A young woman who fell in love with another’s boyfriend allegedly stole the cyber identity of a model to meet him. She then took over her rival’s cyber identity to offer sexual favours over the internet to discredit her, police claimed yesterday. Crime Suppression Division police, armed with a criminal court warrant, arrested the woman, Jutarat Ananta, 24, near Future Park Rangsit shopping mall in Pathum Thani province on Tuesday night.

Ms Jutarat told police she was consumed by jealousy and turned to the Hi5 social network site to fight her rival for the attentions of a medical student.

She was accused of identity theft by Passarapa Kalayakul, 24, a model and former cheerleader at Chulalongkorn University, and a student at a well-known university identified only as Ae.

Ms Passarapa claimed Ms Jutarat used her information and photos on the Hi5 site to deceive Ms Ae’s boyfriend.

Ms Jutarat pretended to be Ms Passarapa in the cyber community. She met Ms Ae’s boyfriend on the social network site before chatting to him over MSN Messenger for a month.

When Ms Jutarat became aware the man had a girlfriend, she searched for Ms Ae’s personal information and photos, which she stole and posted on websites offering sexual favours to blacken Ms Ae’s name.

Police claimed Ms Jutarat confessed she had used photos and information of beautiful women to deceive several other men over the internet

Ms Jutarat was charged with cyber defamation, which carries a penalty of up to five years in prison
